Another week shows up with a few new films to watch. After last week’s surprise of adorableness that was Ramona and Beezus, can this week possibly keep up? At least Salt ended up being a worthless film, so I hear. I sure am glad we didn’t have to see that.
Dinner for Shmucks
Director: Jay Roach
Starring: Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd, Stephanie Szostak
Tim (Rudd) is a rising executive who “succeeds” in finding the perfect guest, IRS employee Barry (Carell), for his boss’s monthly event, a so-called “dinner for idiots,” which offers certain advantages to the exec who shows up with the biggest buffoon.
Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore
Director: Brad Peyton
Starring: Bette Midler, Chris O’Donnell, Jack McBrayer
The ongoing war between the canine and feline species is put on hold when they join forces to thwart a rogue cat spy with her own sinister plans for conquest.
Charlie St. Cloud
Director: Burr Steers
Starring: Zac Efron, Kim Basinger, Charlie Tahan
After his younger brother Sam passes away, Charlie St. Cloud (Efron) finds a way to deal with his grief by working as caretaker at the cemetery where Sam is buried. Charlie and Sam keep their bond with nightly conversations and playing catch, however, when a girl enters Charlie’s life, he struggles between remaining with Sam or pursuing real-world love.
This week has three films that I feel will have three separate lengths of recollection to the general populace: Dinner for Shmucks: a couple of months, Charlie St. Cloud: a couple of weeks, Cats & Dogs: a couple of hours. Why can’t everything be Ramona and Beezus?
