Crazy Literature Work Email Of The Day 08/25/09
Today’s CLWED (no one can steal this acronym now!), comes from Zabek Shaak (rumoring@premierex.com), with the subject mother and son adored each o. It’s from, according to Google, Rienzi, the last of the tribunes, by Baron Edward Bulwer Lytton Lytton. That sounds like a fake name to me, but read on:

Literature Spam
The passed few days on my personal site, I’ve been posting some rather strange work emails that are filled with excerpts from obscure American literature. Then I said to myself, “Self, you kinda work on a show that talks about literature all the time! Maybe you should post these there.” And so I will.
Today I got another. It’s from Vela (enablers@symparkett.sk; “.sk”? Where the heck is that?), with the subject line: e ch. I was able to find its contents in this Project Gutenberg Ebook of The Atlantic Monthly, Volume 14, No. 86, December, 1864 with various authors:

Late Show, Broke Computer 2
Although last week I said that that this week we’d be back on schedule, it turns out that I am a liar. Early last week my computer needed to go back to the shop again for repairs, so there’s no good way to encode any video unless I summon the powers of Greyskull. I’m hoping that the repairs come swiftly and that next week the show will be back at it’s regular time, but I can’t guarantee anything. For now, all I have is my phone to use for updating anything, and I don’t think it’s got enough ram to run Final Cut.
Weird Visitation Spike
Over the last few days a very odd flux in traffic has come to the site. Normally, I’d be happy. More eyes on the site = good things. Which is to say, I’m not unhappy, but what I’m seeing is kinda weird.
Using Google Analytics to track traffic, over the weekend one specific section of the site has been getting hits like mad. Well, comparatively, anyway, to other parts. According to our overlords at Google, this month of 2009 has instantly grabbed 68.87% of the total traffic for the site. I can only assume that it’s because there happens to be two cats in mugs on that page.
What is stranger than simply it surging for no reason is that all of that traffic is not coming from a referred site. It’s all direct traffic.

Well, for the most part direct traffic. I don’t really know why anyone would go specifically to that url, but it’s happening. Additionally, the traffic isn’t coming from one single place, but all around the country and from a few countries in the world. Australia clocked 12 hits in the last few days; New Zealand, 2. All very interesting.
Account activity for downloads this month so far are on par with what happened last month. Our core group of watchers still seems to be present. No drastic surge as a result of these last few days that I can tell. For now all I can surmise is that SkyNet is now live and we have but weeks to live.

Once again I hosted an episode of Nintendorks Radio, talking about games and the game industry. In this episode, we discuss the falling revenues of Nintendo and the game industry. Is it Obama’s fault? Maybe. So head on over and give it a listen:
